Work has been just busy/stressful enough that I haven't had the bandwidth to post on here regularly. 🤦‍♀️

I'm hoping to restart 75 Booked soon, as well as start posting Wednesday WIPs (but that requires figuring out how I want to handle images and where they're stored).

Finally dying my denim jacket took up most of the day - it remains to be seen how it looks when dry. (I think I diluted the dye mixture too much.)

I left reading for too late in the day again. It happened, but that's about it.

It was more difficult to get myself to read today - I chose to cross-stitch instead earlier in the day when I had time, and then I cooked dinner and Cute Girlfriend came over for the night. So, I DID read, but it wasn't much and I was fairly distracted.

Well, considering I only decided to do this...4 hours ago, I don't think my first day went too badly? 😅 I read more that the minimum and recorded my thoughts. Though I didn't drink *water*, I was drinking a beverage. This is a book I borrowed from work, so that's a fail...though I'm borrowing it INSTEAD of buying it, so at least I'm trying to avoid increasing my number of owned, unread books?

I don't look at Tiktok and only sporadically at YouTube, but when glancing at recommended videos tonight on YouTube, one entitled "75 Booked Challenge" caught my eye.

The short version is that a popular BookTok account, @emilypaigebooks, created a reading version of "75 Hard", which is apparently an extreme fitness/dieting challenge (which I'd blessedly never heard of until now).

The original guidelines are as follows:
  • Complete two 45-minute reading sessions each day (one of them not in bed). Physical, e-, or audio books are all fair game.
  • Finish a water bottle during each reading session.
  • Log all your reading in a physical journal or app.
  • No purchasing new books—everything you read must already be owned, bought secondhand, or borrowed from a library.
I've generally been wanting to find "hacks" to help me read more, and since the 'ole ADHD brain loves a good gimmick, this seems like a way to potentially do that.

Except I know from the get-go that the guidelines as written aren't going to work for me. Luckily, customizing the challenge seems to be encouraged. :D

My "rules", I think:
  • Read 45 minutes per day.
  • Drink an amount of water while reading.
  • Log reading/thoughts on Dreamwidth.
  • Continue to read down my unread, owned books.
I could wait to start this at the beginning of 2026, but I seems somewhat more intelligent to just...not wait and not add any pressure to the urge to start things "new" at the beginning of the year, only to immediately falter under said pressure. Which is from myself. Because I'm AWESOME.

So, I guess this is a thing I'm doing now? 🤷‍♀️

It's November 20th, which means it's Transgender Day of Remembrance.

This has been an annually observed day by the trans community and its supporters since 1999 and focuses on memorializing all of the people killed by transphobia during the previous year - a number which is ALWAYS too high.

Here's a link to the Wikipedia article, if you'd like to read more.

Since I'm a cis woman, I have no desire to talk over trans voices about the importance of this day, especially given the current conditions in the United States. But posting about the day seems like a small thing I can do to try and bring awareness to today and what it's all about.
