Today I read the chapter covering the Stonewall Riot and it was really captivating. First, this contained the most detailed description of the Stonewall Inn that I've personally read (though my girlfriend has heard a similar description previously). I feel like a lot of histories cover how the Stonewall Inn was mafia-run, etc., but don't really get into the layout of culture of the bar itself. Either that, or I've just really been reading the wrong books about queer history.
My favorite part of the chapter was when the author dealt with the subject of Marsha's differing accounts of the Riot over the years. The author did a masterful job bringing up how much trauma and PTSD existing as a queer person in New York at the time entailed and how that likely affected her accounting of events over the years. She may have gotten timelines mixed up during various interviews, but eye witnesses place her there and her stories have emotional truth, even if she got the exact dates wrong sometimes.

I'm not in love with this series, but the library has that last two volumes, so I plan on reading them also. It's like a gay male version of "The Ancient Magus' Bride".
Current reading: "Feral Self-Care: 100 Ways to Liberate and Celebrate Your Messy, Wild, and Untamed Self", by Mandi Em

I'm always trying to figure out ways to help myself relax and not be anxious about work on my time off, so this book seemed interesting to check out. However, I've only gotten through the introduction so far.Pages read: 12
